Abstract: During the last 15 years there has been a kind of an arms race between attacks and countermeasures on embedded systems. In particular the process in attack setups/techniques for side-channel and fault attacks continuously challenges the implemented countermeasures. This talk provides an overview of the current main challenges for counteracting side-channel and fault attacks in practice. It also presents concrete countermeasures that aim at breaking the arms race by counteracting the attacks at the protocol level.
