On Friday, Octo ber 11th 2013, Prof. Henk Wymeersch from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden will give a talk on "Trade-offs between positioning, communication, and control in mobile cyber-physical systems" Location: Johannes Kepler Un iversity, Altenbergerstr. 69, 4040 Linz Science-Park 1, Room: MT-132 Abstra ct: Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) herald the close integration between the disciplines of control, sensing, computing, and communication, and hav e applications in smart grids, automotive systems, robotics, and medic al monitoring. Mobile CPSs involve multiple agents that complete ta sks, often in a coordinated manner. A crucial aspect in successfu lly completing tasks is the availability of position information th at is sufficiently timely and accurate. In this talk, we consider the t rade-offs of the positioning sub-system with respect to the control sub-sys tem and with respect to the communication sub-system. In the first part of the talk, we will describe how position accuracy and communication delay trade off for asymptotically large networks. In the second part, we will show how task completion is related to positioning accuracy and describe a framework for the interfacing of positioning and contr ol. | ||
