EdSoc
The Austrian EdSoc Chapter (Education Society) represents an integral part of the Austrian Section of the IEEE. It is operating in the framework of the IEEE Education Society. The Chapter was founded in 2005.
General information:
The scheduled activities of the Austrian EdSoc Chapter are also open to colleagues who are not associated in the IEEE Education Society.
An important attribute of the Austrian EdSoc Chapter is the close cooperation with national and international organizations and associations.
IEEE provides extended communication options. Of particular importance are the online communication offerings as the listed below, with the purpose to encourage and facilitate discussion and sharing of ideas between IEEE members
Elections will be held every two years by an email-based organizational meeting.

EMC
The Austria Chapter of the IEEE EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Society represents an integral part of the IEEE Austria Section. The Chapter was founded in 1992 by H. Garn (Seibersdorf), W. Bittinger (Bosch), W. Müllner (Seibersdorf) and G. Horak (Alcatel-Lucent).
The aim of the chapter is to provide a platform for knowledge transfer and networking within the EMC community in Austria and with national and international organizations.
Chapter Activities
Annually the EMC chapter organises a one-day EMC symposium in cooperation with the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE), the University of Technology Graz, the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the Seibersdorf Laboratories.
All activities of the Austrian IEEE EMC Chapter are also open to colleagues who are not associated with the IEEE EMC Society.

IAS/PELS/IES
IAS/PELS/IES (Industry Application Society, Power Electronics Society, Industrial Electronics Society).
The IEEE IAS/PELS/IES chapter (IEEE Austria Section) serves as a platform for all Austrian members of the industry application society (IAS), the power electronics society (PELS) and the industrial electronics society (IES).
Primary topic of interest of these societies are correlating with the disciplines from the field of electrical and electronic engineering.

IMS
Instrumentation and Measurement Society - “If we cannot measure it, it does not exist” is a frequently used statement in science paraphrasing the importance of instrumentation and measurements to almost all fields of science. By improving a measurement, we can better understand the underlying phenomena and it makes instrumentation and measurement so exciting, that single improvements e.g. with respect to measurement methodologies, systems for instrumentation and measurement, or novel sensors can have dramatically impact on the work of many other scientists.
The availability of network technology, miniaturized nodes and sensors, as well as of computers to process huge amounts of data have given rise to new research areas standing behind buzz words like big data, the internet of things or industry 4.0 and autonomous systems. With the huge amount of data available, the question arises whether predictions made from a high number of highly uncertain measurements will produce usable or trustable results. This is of particular interest for autonomous systems, i.e. systems where correctness of predictions can mean the difference between life and death.

PES
The Power and Energy Society (PES) Chapter Austria connects professionals from Austria with the PES and IEEE worldwide network of electrical and power engineers. Since our energy system is evolving towards a more heterogeneous, decentralized and more flexible grid, all related engineering and science disciplines are working together to bring "More Power to the Future".

RAS

SMCS
The Austrian IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (SMCS) Chapter constitutes a platform for the exchange of ideas and networking within the range of systems, man and cybernetics. It was founded in November 2009.
The chapter actually covers a rather broad spectrum of topics, e.g.:
The integration of theories on communication, control, cybernetics, stochastic, optimization and system architecture towards a general theory of systems.
Development of technologies for system engineering including methods for problem definition, modeling and simulation, methods for experimentation on systems, human factor engineering data and method, system design techniques, as well as methods for testing and evaluation.
The application of the topics and methods mentioned before, hardware and server-sided for analysis and design of biological, ecological, socio-economic and social service, as well as computer information and operational man-machine systems.
